Why do most churchgoers rush to the parking lot to be the first in line at the restauraunt after church? Are they promoting anti-christian values in the people that are working on Sunday. My feelings are that we should not visit places where people are working on Sunday unless it is to invite them to services that night or next Sunday. What say ye?

You're right - I've never thought about it that way. I used to tell potential employers that I don't work Sundays no matter what. Guess I'll rethink breakfast at IHOP on Sunday. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

The Sabbath day is to be held holy in the aspect of going to worship and practice what it is to be Christian, the Sabbath being a day of no work, is from the Old Testament law, the Mosaic law which was changed when Christ came.
This is what happens when the Old Testament is mixed in with the New Testament, which means New Covenant.
In reality if we did not sponsor those people who are working for a living on Sunday, then they would go hungry, I as a health care worker have had to work many a Sunday, am I expected to turn down a sick person on Sunday and not help them because it is Sunday.
It is not anti-Christian, only to those who like to twist things around.
God bless you and I suggest that you pick up the Gospel and read it again.

Maybe the people working on sunday aren't christians in the first place - or at least aren't practicing ones.

I understand the whole remember the sabbath and keep it holy. That's why the jews don't do anything on saturday. In fact, my parents who are pastors never used to do anything on sunday after church. They'd come home after preaching and we'd have our big family lunch and then we'd relax the rest of the day. One day Mom did laundry and hung it out to dry - and boy did she hear about it from a parishner later in the week about how she shouldn't be working on sunday! LOL!

Jesus once asked the Pharasee (over dinner on the Sabbath) if one of his cows or camels fell into the well, if he would get a rope and pull the animal out on the Sabbath. The Pharasee could not answer.

A sick man came to the door and Jesus asked the Phrarasee if it was wrong to cure someone on the Sabbath and the Pharasee could not answer. Jesus touched the man and healed him.

If Jesus can work on the Sabbath, so can anyone.

And, ah, Jesus Sabbath, by the way, was Friday at sunset until Saturday at sunset.

And, by the way, is the Priest, Minister or Pastor NOT working on Sunday when they hold services!

I know you will flame me for this but it is my sincere opinion (here in the SOUTH) that Baptist Churches are often composed of people who are only religious during Sunday Service hours. And still, while those hours are in effect, you see what appears to be a 'seen and be seen' fashion show of sorts.. its sickening. My neighbors go to a Christian based church any time the place is open.. still they do not help in the community, they will not assist a homeless animal, they do not speak to any of their neighbors, are not involved with the PTA.. I could go on. I don't go to church here (in the SOUTH) because the Christans here do not share my moral values. Churches build communities within them, only to exclude the rest of the town. And, yes, every Sunday, you must have your errands handled before church lets out or you're mobbed by impatient church-goers in over-priced, uncomforable "sunday" clothes, in their 35k minivans, barreling down the parking lot (the wrong way) at 55mph... while slapping their kids in the back seat and not looking where they are going. It's truly sick.

I believe you are correct in your interpretation of scripture. Some say Saturday is the Sabbath and some say Sunday. I believe whatever day we choose to set aside as a holy day, we should observe Gods teachings of this day. I have always called Sunday my Sabbath day. As far as those who choose to frequent restaurants, I feel that God is pleased when an entire family sits down together for a meal especially if thanksgiving is offered .
I do not think God is offended by this but I think it is better if we choose not to frequent these places on Sunday. Those who bring their bibles with them and who pray openly are doing Gods work and I feel they are blessed for this.
Do everything out of Love for God and people.
God Bless You....Peace.

I obviously don't know 'most Christians'. Because those that I know do not treat the Sabbath as any day, but it's a type of 'the life of faith' . The Sabbath Day was a type and shadow of things to come. The Lord is our Sabbath.

Matthew 12
Lord of the Sabbath
1At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. 2When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
3He answered, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? 4He entered the house of God, and he and his companions ate the consecrated bread—which was not lawful for them to do, but only for the priests. 5Or haven't you read in the Law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple desecrate the day and yet are innocent? 6I tell you that one[a] greater than the temple is here. 7If you had known what these words mean, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,'[b] you would not have condemned the innocent. 8For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Colossians 2:16Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ. 18Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

20Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21"Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? 22These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.

I think the sabbath is not at all understood by most believers. The Holy Ghost is the rest we need, not a special day of the week. Read Is.28:11,12, Col.2:16, Heb.4:1-11.
Jesus never said anything about keeping the sabbath!

Look around the world before asking this question. There wasn't a specific day set as the SABBATH.

Many will tell you that the Sabbath Day is on a Saturday, Sunday, even a Wednesday. It's according to their belief. The point is set a specific day to rest and worship God.

As for churchgoers going out to eat at a resturant, what's your point. Those who work at the restuarant are doing their part to help feed people. Isn't this beneficial for people? Didn't Jesus heal people on a Sabbath? Wasn't that beneficial to those people? As long as you are benefiting others, it doesn't matter. You are being hospitable and a vessel for God.

First of all the Sabbath is not Sunday. The Sabbath is the Seventh day of the week, which is Saturday. This change in interpretation was done by the earlier Christian Church to make things her way.
