Depending on where you are will say what you pay. But, putting an ad in the paper sometimes works or the site of puppyfind.com is full of puppies and also has homeless dogs. They seem to have puppies and dogs from all over the country so you wouldn't have to pay the shipping if you found one near you. A membership is only something like $5.00 for a month and they have puppies from all price ranges. of all types of breeds. You can search for location as well as just go thru all in just one breed. Good Luck

Hi, there are lots of adverts for labradors on the ePupz site (also have a search under 'labrador' as well as 'labrador retriever') - you have to register to get the contact details but it's free if the ads are over five days old (£4.99 for current ads):
http://www.epupz.co.uk/search/puppies_for_sale.asp?breed=Labrador+Retriever&area=all&st=1&Submit=Search+++

You may also find someone suitable on the Pets4Homes site:
http://www.pets4homes.co.uk/pets4homes/home.nsf/PV?SearchView&Query=(FIELD%20TypeTX=Dogs)%20%20AND%20(FIELD%20BreedTX=Labrador%20Retriever)%20&start=1&count=10&SearchOrder=3&ExactMatch=True&SearchWV=FALSE&SearchFuzzy=FALSE&SearchMax=250

On those two sites you'll get an idea of how much a labrador puppy currently costs.

If you'd like a pup that was definately KC registered (with all the benefits that confers) then try the Kennel Club Puppy Sales Register:
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/item/436

Or the Champdogs site:
http://www.champdogs.co.uk/guided/all_labrador-retriever.html

Labrador Rescue - there's several websites out there - try:
http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/
http://www.helpalabrador.co.uk/
http://www.lrsec.org.uk/
http://www.paw-mark.co.uk/labrador_rescue.htm
http://www.labrador-lifeline.co.uk/
Plus more listed on this site (so hopefully you should find a rescue organisation based near you):
http://www.animalrescuers.co.uk/html/dogbreed.html

Good luck.

PS have you read that wonderful book about a yellow labrador called 'Marley'? It's brilliant - made me laugh & cry :

Yes! The re-homing centres of Dogs Trust always seem to have a good number of Labradors, and their dogs are very well looked after and healthy. You pay a small fee and get a collar, lead, insurance and dog food when you pick up one.

Google Dogs Trust and then look up the nearest re-homing centre, it's really worth it.

They will also tell you the character of the dogs i.e. compatibility with other dogs etc.
