Rabbi is an aramaic term that means: Mishnaic Heb. rabbi "my master," from rabh "master, great one,"

This is the terms arabs use to refer to God because it is mentioned in the Quran.

Ab is the root word for Father and is the constituent of Rabb,

The single erasal of a letter creates the word : My master to My father

And is a single erasal of a letter: Rabbi or Rabbah turns to Abbi or Abba

Could the Bible have been altered to make God look like a Father?

No.

It really wouldn't matter if it did.

I spent a lot of years working to understand scripture. Reading different translations, studying methods of translations, learning to read different languages, studying context.

In the end it was a couple of simple scriptures that changed my life forever.

Luke 24:45 - Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

You can only understand the scripture through the Holy Ghost. All of my attempt at understanding was worthless because it is only through Faith in the Grace of God through Jesus Christ that a person may receive the Holy Spirit and understand.

The word 'rabbi' never appears in the Hebrew Scriptures. It does appear in the Talmud and its actual etymology comes from the root word meaning a multitude and is not related to 'father' at all. Rabbi literally means 'one over many'. The aramaic term for 'master' is 'Mar'.

Oooh..interesting theory. I don't wanna go there and say one way or another since I do have respect for the revelation it carries. But since it has been altered through continuous "updating" of it's speech it is entirely possible. :)
