My little girl takes packed lunch to school, I always make sure she has a well balanced healthy lunch, sandwich, fruit, cheese shapes, yougart etc. I want to send her with apple pieces but she wont eat a full apple. What can I do to stop the apple pieces going brown???

Is that a silly question hahahahahahaha

Not a silly Q at all. I know you can buy apple slices so check the ingredients to see what they use, I think lemon juice would work , try it and see if it doesn't change the taste too much many places use that. You can also send dried or dehydrated fruit and nuts are good too.

As previous posters have mentioned lemon juice water works great. If you are worried about leaving a bitter taste dont worry it wont as long as the lemon juice is diluted with about 1/4 c water to 1 tsp lemon juice or 1/2 lemon. Anything acidic like the lemon works too like lime juice water and you can always flavor it with a little bit of splenda to bring out the flavor of the lime or lemon for a different twist on the apple slices.

You can rub the cut sides with a bit of lemon juice,
but the best method (my son took apples to school for years) was to cut it up as necessary and place the pieces in a small plastic container with a lid (or a zip bag) with a small amount of water with just a bit of lemon juice in it. Mine were old enough when I started that, that I didn't have to worry about him spilling it etc.....

Vitamin C is going to keep it from going brown.

They sell apples already cut up with vitamin C on it that won't go brown.

BTW the vitamin C doesn't change the flavor. Good for you though!

you can buy apple slices prepackaged at the grocery store. They are like the ones you get in a happy meal from McDonald's

well dont give her apples anymore if she is not going to eat them, Or you can just tell the teacher to watch her if she does not eat them let them tell you and then you wont have to pack them anymore.
