I live in midtown, but where I live on northside there's no place to really go walking. I would like to know of some places that maybe have long trails I can go on? I need to walk a lot but I am not familiar with Atlanta that well even though I've lived here almost a year lol. I'd appreciate suggestions, thank you!

You'll probably like Stone Mountain. There's a five mile trail around the park. There's alot going on and always new faces, you wont even feel like you're exercising. Also, as you can imagine, there's a good mix of hills and flat land so there's some variety which is good for cardio. It's a great place for walking dogs as well and its nice during the summer because of all the trees. You can also hike up Stone Mountain if you'd like. It can be done, but it's rough for beginners. From midtown, you'll be able to hop right on Ponce and be there in about 15-20 minutes. The parking on Ponce (Main Street), near the visitors information center, across from the polic Station is free and you just walk up the trail. Otherwise if you go through the gate you'll have to pay $7 for park admission.

Check out the Path system. It is a series of paved walking/biking trails throughout the area. The link below provide more information. There are also some really nice neighborhoods in midtown area that would be a great place to walk: Ansley Park (between 14th and 17th along Peachtree), Brookwood (Peachtree and 26th streets), Virginia Highlands and Druid Hills. Some of the neighborhoods are hillier than others, but all provide a really beautiful setting in which to walk or bike.

We actually go walking in Oakhurst cemetary - it is lovely, has some hills, and many other folks do it as well. Since there have been a few incidents here in Atlanta on walking trails - we stay away from them. The cemetary in Decatur is also quite nice. Once around there is a little over 2 miles.
