There are no worries with Cheerios. There are holes in the middle of them. A child will not choke on them like you may think. Our 11 month old daughter here loves them. Has been snacking on them since she was 9 months old. Kix, I refuse to give her. But then again with any infant, you have to supervise when they eat. Watch how your child eats. Does the child use their tongue to push food to the area where they will have molars? Does you child have a few teeth? If this is all in place then dont worry.
When its the first child, we over react to everything, and are worried about the littlest things. Dont sweat the small stuff, my mom use to say. And now as a mother of 4 with 5th on the way, I DONT SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF!!!!
Other great snacks for this age: Gerber puffed snacks, Yo Baby yogurts, graham crackers, small pieces of fruits & veggies that arent hard, Nilla Wafers, applesauce.
Here are some good ideas, hope they help!!! Best of Luck to you.

Cheerios are good for a baby around that age, just let them get a bit soggy before you give them to him/her.
It's important for a baby to get a varied diet, it helps with brain activity as well as the obvious body health. A child with a good diet will be less likely to have behavioural problems and learning difficulties.
Good for you for wanting the varied diet, too many parents these days are afraid to do this.

Believe you me by the time those Cheerios reach your toddler's mouth they will be mush! They take such a long time to eat anything at that age and the milk will simply reduce the cereals to a soggy consistency. It's great to give your child a variety of foods, though I'd check the salt and sugar content of Cheerios as a lot of cereals have high amounts of both :)

Our babies ate Cheerios at 6 or 7 months and had no trouble. The child should not choke on them and they have a hole in the middle so air will get through.

I was worried about my daughter choking on Cheerios too! She is 13 months old and I have yet to give her them. She does have her back teeth but I am worried still she might not be able to chew them. I wanted to give her cereal though and I found a good alternative was Gerber Graduate Finger Foods Puffs. They are similar to cereal and they come in a variety of flavors, peach, cherry, sweet potato, banana etc. The best part is that they do melt in baby's mouth! So they get to chew but no worries of choking!

Well I can say from given Cheerios to my kids that it is ok cause they will make them soft as they eat them and if you are worried about choking try the mesh feeding bags that they have for kids it will mash up the food for them as they eat it!

They go soft in milk so there is no problem.
Everyone around baby really needs to chill and stop worrying about choking or he will grow up developing complexes.
Ever seen these kids on Supernany etc who are 4 and only eat yoghurt and freak any time something hard is put near them to eat? Thats why, becuase mum and dad were dancing around fretting he'd choke everytime he put something in his mouth.
Relax.

your baby needs a wide varity in his diegt you are right. Cheerios are fine for 10months and up. Baby will chew them and only eat them one at a time. even if baby doesnt have teeth drool and gums will melt the cheerios away. Baby should also have a very wide varity of other pea sized finger foods at this age. Explore away! Its so much fun watching them discover!

hes 12 months old - cheerios are fine! most kids start eating cheerios well before their first birthday. its norml to feel 'scared' that your childwill choke-- just know whatto do if it happens (grabbing their arm and holding it above their head usually works) and just make sure to give small pieces of foods.

I was terrible feeding my kids and I still am with my 4 year old cause they don't always chew properly. You have to try different foods but as long as they eat the right foods more improtant. Chop food up well even grapes as thing that size a perfect for getting stuck.
