First of all, do not go on a crash diet. I tried that and fell into a whole spiral of not eating and then overeating. I ended up gaining weight rather than losing it. I got out of shape and lost much of the muscle tone I had. I am 5'6" and I got to about 160.This went on for almost a year and I was miserable for all of it. My self-esteem plummetted and I despised mirrors. I finally got my eating under control and started working it off healthily. Trust me, crash diets will not motivate you.
I made better choices when eating and started exercising again. I learned to find something good about myself when looking in the mirror. As for exercising, soccer season started again and over the winter I joined the wrestling team at my school to stay in shape. I lost enough weight to wrestle 135/140 and gained quite a bit of muscle. If I overate, I didn't lose heart, I just started anew the next day.
Try eating whole grains, plenty of protein and as many fruits and veggies as you like. Watch excess things like butter, dressing, mayo etc. Don't deprive yourself however, a little treat now and then is fine. I myself adore chocolate :-D Whatever you do, remember that you are the only person you need to make happy, be sure you do things for you.

There is NO good crash diet. You can't quick fix weight loss, it has to be dealt with by lifestyle changes, not something quick. The best things to do are eat small portions, totally eliminate fast food and soda, increase your eating to 6 meals a day of 3 small meals, and 3 snacks in between. Also start exercising.
Remember, crash diets always fail, because they aren't about changing your life, they just change for a week or two.

Crash diets are doomed to fail. Follow the South Beach Diet and exercise.
If your goal is to lose weight and keep it off, you must change your lifestyle. A diet is a short term fix. A lifestyle change lasts a lifetime.
You didn't put on weight overnight and you won't take it off overnight.
It is unsafe to lose more than 1% of your body weight or more than 1-2 lbs per week.

I know what you want... U have to see that initial weight loss to keep you motivated or you will go off and eat a bag of Doritos... im like that too... and i did the South Beach diet... the first two weeks.. it will make you loose like 8-14 pounds.. I lost like 12 in two weeks... and thats what kept me motivated to losing like 25. the book is really interesting and not hard to read. u should go buy it. it has a food list that tells you what to buy and what not to buy... it teaches you about good carbs and bad... and its like... mostly no carb the first two weeks..except for veggies.. but only the good kind.. its really easy to understand.. but u have to buy the book..

No no no no. Crash dieting will not work. Period. Just forget it, you will be hugely disappointed and end up sick. The only way to keep it off is to do it in a healthy way and there is more than enough info on that around here.

start by eating lots and lots of fiberous foods, i.e. brocolli soup, grainey bread, squash, bananas, etc. Drink lots and lots of water and in a few days, you WILL bet set right with the world and have a great jump start on your diet. The average person is carrying around 10-25 lbs of 'waste' at anygiven time. It's not all fat that makes us fat.
