use treats and parise them when they do it nd you have to actually move them so they learn and then give them a treat and praise them and then they will do it on their own.
(ex. to give paw- saw paw a couples times and if they dont hit your hand with their paw, take you other hand and pick up their paw and put it in your hand with the paw and shake you hand then give them the treat and say good boy/girl.0 it should work i trained my cat to dit lay down and give me his paw. it takes about an hour.

Here's a few tricks:
1. make the cat wake up earlier than u do and go for a long run. the cat must have a healthy breakfast before running, though.
2. if you want it to jump through a tire without touching the sides, you may hang a tire (or any loopish) and fun some cat food behind. make signs that'll make the cat think that it has to hump through the tire to get the food. (try cream, that's food cats like best!)
3. a healthy cat is the best kind to do tricks! So give him the food about a fish and milk at breakfast, a bowl of cream at lunch and a single fish and water at night! that's a healthy diet to keep the cat healthy! remember, a fat cat can't do anything, neither can a thin one!
4. They say cats always land on their feet! so make yours jump from a bit high and through a tire, put some cream below the loop, next put the cat even higher! after some days of this, your cat should be used to it and if you hold a kind of loop beside a high place it'll climb and jump thru the loop! even without cream or food of any kind!
5. cats' most special thing is to catch mice. collect come fake mice and set them round the house for the cat to chase. if your cat hates excerse, this'll make a really nice excersise 4 him!
6. put your cat on top of a round ball and make it stand there without falling for ten minutes. if that suceeds, then your cat has a good idea of how to balance itself in edges and high, narrow walls. it won't fall if it's balance is good!
here, these points can help you! if non if these works, then visit a pet shop and learn about training cats!

It really depends on 2 things the food and the cat-catfood that contains significant amounts of iron and carbohydrates will help with the energy alot, but as for the tricks-thats totally up to the cat, Its not that they cant learn they refuse to, havent u noticed that they can be a little prissy or uptight at times, Its like they think they are to good for us.

Play with the cat. Small balls, laser lights cats go crazy over. But don't shine it
in the eye. Just make it a spot on the carpet or wall and they love jumping at it.
We took care of a number of cats and they all loved the laser light. Throw a soft
ball down a hallway and let him try to catch. They also like fake mice, scratching
poles, and just small soft toys. Have fun! There's nothing like playing with an
animal.

Trying to train a cat is like trying to teach the cat how to dance. All you do is piss off the cat and drive yourself crazy. Probably not going to happen. :)

Cats will learn what they want to learn; but, treats will help. I always heard that to a cat: a person is just a warm piece of furniture.

E Z -- use plenty of "treats" and patience.
Always remember "Positive Reinforcement"
even if they do things wrong.
Cats are smart, mine goes out and returns with my Dog in the back yard simply by command,, and "treats".

Our cat won't play with toys...He WILL play with little things, like milk carton plastic rings.....paper, a leaf...not toys though, we've bought several and they just sit there. Even tried catnip......He didn't go for it.
