Why are there two different programs to do the same thing? And, which should I use? (I find the Media Centre much harder to work with FYI).
Thanks!

They are not for the same thing. Yes, you can use Media center to play files and music but it has the capability for much more. For example you can use Media Center to connect to you Xbox 360 over a network and watch shows from your computer on any TV that is hooked up to that Xbox. Also, if you have a TV tuner card on your computer and Media Center will be the interface that you will use as a tivo. Anyway, Media Center does A LOT more than Windows Media Player. Also, just so that you are not misled by the other individual who answered: you cannot uninstall Media Center unless you change the version of Windows.
