She has this nasty chapping actually radiating around her poor, little lips...
I currently have a natural Chapstick that I'm applying, but I have heard that too much chapstick isn't good. Plus, I wasn't sure if I should apply it to her skin.

great answers so far.... thanks!
i have the Chapstick brand that is labeled "all natural"...
and i am sure that it is chapping. she has had a cold and from all the drippy nose wiping and blowing, it's a pretty sensitve area. between that and the 6 degree temperatures and wind in the NE, that area just keeps getting redder. :-(

I've found that the Gerber Teeny Faces Moisturizing Stick works awesome for chapped lips as well as chapped cheeks or any areas of dry skin. It's also great for sensitive skin. I use it all the time on my 15-month old son's cheeks and lips. You can find the Gerber stick at almost any grocery/drug store or Walmart. Give it a try, I'm sure you will love it!

I live in Boston and found some amazing stuff that you normally wouldn't think of. I actually visited a local Dermatologist and asked about my daughter's chapped lips, cheeks, and the upper part between her lips and nose. All of those areas were dry, red, sore and very chapped. She suggested Aquaphor-you can only find it in the baby asile. It runs about 12 dollars for a tube....but lasts forever. Apply a small amount to the chapped and irritated areas and you will see a DRASTIC improvement within about an hour....apply as often as you'd like and even once the area has cleared up-this will prevent it from happenning again.
Now our whole family uses it.....it's the best thing out there. We use it on cutts so they won't scar, dry skin areas, on our face before skiing-to prevent wind burn.....anywhere thats dry or irritatied to use it!
The stuff is AMAZING! GOOD LUCK!!

Try using Aquaphor Healing Ointment, you can find it in the baby aisle. I use it on my 13 month old daughter's lips and face when chapping occurs. It works great I apply it before bedtime and by morning there is a noticeable difference.

Petroleum Jelly works very well, but this is what I do for extremely chapped lips:
Take a little bit of honey and mix it into the petroleum jelly.
The honey attracts and traps moisture on the lips.

If its getting around her skin, you may want to have her checked to make sure that it is chapped lips. If it is, her peditrician may prescribe her something. If your sure it is, try vasoline, I have found it works wonders on my daughter (shes 3) when she had chapped lips. Good Luck

its fine - personally I use vaseline for my son
if round her mouth is sore - assuming she isnt allergic, apply a little sudocream and then a little vaseline over the top (so if she licks it it doesnt taste horrible) - do this at bedtime / while shes sleeping is best as there is less temptation to rub off - and by morning you should see some improvement

it won't hurt if you keep it moist with a little protroliun jelly or even a little camperfonix on it as well as the chapstick you are using.just use a little each time you do put it on. just put them on as needed.and at different times. mix it up a little.
