My computer will not start up at all. A blue stop error screen pops up before Windows XP even starts to run. I see the Dell screen and then the stop error screen. I tried to run my computer in safemode but that didn't work. I tried returning it to last working mode but that didnt work either. I can't even log on to my computer, it is completely crashed, right now I'm on my mother's pc.
Here is what the blue screen tells me:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK/F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x812C4728, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)

Insert the windows cd in cd bay. Then restart the computer. Press any key to boot from the cd when prompted, boot from the win xp cd. Press Enter to start the installation.Do not choose to Repair Installation on this screen. Then press F8 to accept to the license agreement. In the next screen press R to repair the windows installation. Only necessary files will be copied to the hard drive.
Windows will then begin to load and the computer will then reboot. Let the computer boot itself from the hard disk and complete the installation. This repair installation is useful when computer is affected by some malware, and you do not want to loose your installed programs and documents on your computer in formatting the hard disk

This has happend to my Mom's Dell a couple of times...If you still have your backup CD's(the ones that came with your computer), You should reload the system. It's really the only thing I know of that helps.

Also with Dell computers, It's important you have all your drives on disk as well(also came with your computer)

Hopefully- You still have them...if not, You may need a new hard drive.

Best of luck!
