All Mammals no matter what they are have a period of mourning for there young, dead mates and in some cases dead relatives. Animals are not as dumb as some people think and you can see the grief in their eyes as well as manner.
If it gets too much you may have to take the cat to the vets for some sedatives just like Humans would to help.
Otherwise, just be there for your cat and help it through its grief period gently, caring and with understanding.
Good Luck

I should not be bowled over if it did get depressed. final Fall our male cat have been given tremendously beat up by using a motor vehicle and replaced into attacked by using a coyote because it tried to flow slowly living house. I won't record each and all the injuries however the cat replaced into in tremendously undesirable shape. as quickly as we've been given the cat living house from the vet it disappeared right into a sort of hidey spots interior the living house some situations and 'went down'. The canines sought him out and have been given him up; even dragging him down a flight of stairs as quickly as. I totally credit the canines with saving the cats existence simply by fact he refused to offer up on the cat.

She is feeling the loss of her kitten...it was her baby after all.
We had two cats and one was run over and killed. The cat left behind pined for a very long time and never bonded with any of the other cats we took in, although they bonded with each other. Sadly we have lost all but our original cat and she is much happier now as an only cat in the house.

Yes. One of my boy cats dropped dead unexpectedly from a blood clot, and his sister, was very depressed for a good few weeks (as was I!) We used to spend time sitting on the sofa together watching tv in the evening just cuddling. The two of them used to play together and he used to drive her nuts, chasing her around the house about 6 in the morning. The saddest thing was after he'd been dead a week, and she tried to chase herself around the house! I was in bed and she looked so sad, I just called her and she came straight up and cuddled.
Things get better but it does take a while. Are you sure she's not going out at night when you are asleep? And that she's not pooping elsewhere in the house?
Sorry about the loss of your kitten.

Yes cat's do get depressed and if she has lost her kitten even one she faught with she will need time to mourn for her. Give her a bout another week and she should settle out some, if not get her to a vet, they have antidepressant that may help her get over the loss quicker. Just bare with her and love on her extra until she gets over it. Also getting her a small furry stuffed animal may help her feel like she has something to curl up with and not feel so alone. Good luck, hope you kitty is okay.

How sad :( All creature has a sense of depression. I have my cat here named nami, she felt all alone if I'm not on her sight. Sweet to ears but whenever she felt that, she lose appetite. I had an uncle (a cat lover), has a study about different kinds of cats, attitudes, and where we can find them. If you had a time, visit some sites and study more about cats.

Yes, it's very possible for a cat to be depressed.
Right now your cat is grieving the death of her kitten.
Animals grieve for the loss of their babies just like a human would.
