I have received a file with a WPS extension on it. I have tried to convert into Microsoft Office but just get loads of crap. I have emailed the source back to get them to resave it, but they just keep supplying the same file. It is an important document, so can anyone help please?

You should be able to add converters to your Word program. WPS is *probably* Microsoft Works, so make sure you add that component to Word.

Use control panel -> Add or Remove Software -> Microsoft Office (assuming that it's part of an Office suite... otherwise find the entry for Microsoft Word).

Change the setup... add a component... in converters, find the Works ones and add them.

The link below will allow you to download
"Works 2000 Converter for Word 97/2000 Users
Brief Description
The Works 2000 converter allows you to open a Works 2000 .wps file in Word and to save a Word document as a Works 2000 .wps file."

You can try to set Microsoft as default and you can convert the way of opening files. BTW WPS Office is free for individual and it is quite great. Maybe you can change your Office suite and have a try.

u should be able to open it with notepad - force open the file from the notepad window and u should get the text - then copy to a new Word document - that's ur best bet...
