My daughter was sick constantly, and unfortunately our school throws a big fit if they miss more than 5 days, but what is a good parent to do when they keep coming into contact with germs? Many parents send their kids sick, which is why our kids pick up the germs and then we keep them home and get penalized for it. Yes, it will get better, but sometimes it takes time and just pure luck. Germs are germs, and until people learn to stay home when they're sick, there isn't much else you can do. Sorry about the kids. I understand

My daughter started nursery in September and has had a cold ever since! Before then she never even had so much as a sniffle! My nieces and nephews are also on a constant roundabout of sickness, diarrhoea and colds and they are all at primary school. Just a fact of life. Try using echineaccea or vitamins every once in a while (not regularly as it's not good for the little ones) to try ward of these nasty bugs! Roll on the summer when these horrible germs go into semi-hibernation!

This is common with small children, and believe me it will get better as they get older. The smaller children are still learning to rules
1.cover your mouth when coughing
2.cover your nose and mouth when sneezing
3.wash hands after restroom, and sneezing or couching
4.wash hands before eating
you see, coughing or sneezing on that cute girl/guy in the 5th grade isn't a very "cool" or good thing to do, so they will all learn to help keep germs o themselves sooner or later. nobody wants to be the outcast
for now, teach kids the basic sick rules, and just be happy your kids dont have cancer or anything. Then they would be home ALOT more.

It is SO common. My son is in kindergarten and he is out sick all of the time. He has had the rotavirus, strept throat 3 times, pneumonia, and frequent ear infections. Recently, he had ear tubes, and adenoids and tonsills removed. Hopefully this will help, but I have resigned myself to the fact that this is how it will be for another year or so. Unfortunately, everytime he gets sicks he passes it on to the rest of our family. For awhile there I thought we would never be well at the same time. Ask your doctor about ways to boost the immune system. Otherwise...This too shall pass.

I know what u mean! my little boy goes to playgroup and every time he goes he seems to pick something up. First it was a bad cold and cough, then chicken pox and now hes just had a sick bug. Hes becoming a bad attender and I desperately want him to learn that u have to go everyday but he keeps being ill. I hope by the time he goes to school he will have built up a better immune system, Im going to put him on vitamins too.

Unfortunely, kids get sick once they get into school. My two have had fewer bouts with the flu and bad colds this year because I tell them to always wash their hands as much as they can if not in class make a stop in the bathroom to wash their hands. That's how you get the cold virus, from touching something someone with a cold has touched.

All children are different, by my daughter, who is in kindergarten, has been out of school, twice with pneumonia ans once with strep throat! I think schools need to do a better job at sanitizing everything!

I am not a parent yet, so this is just my opinion. With the eldest, try to encourage them to go, just say, 'If your still not well at lunch, tell your teacher and you can come home, but see how it goes.' Otherwise this could contribute to bad attendance records all the way through school.
With the youngest, I'd say dont be too worried till they start school officialy.

It's a known fact, that school age, especially early years, they will have a cold up to 10 times in a season...It will not go away until they learn to keep their hands clean, wipe their own nose and stay away from sick ones....
