Now i have given this alot of thought and i am only after honest answers. If you say you were born that way then technically (no offence) that would mean you would have a mental disorder (like depression and what not) so one would think scientists will be able to treat or cure the condition, when you consider the reproductive process it has to be a mental disorder. But if you said you chose to be gay that would technically be a sexual perversion (again no offence) but how does that differ from say nechropheliacs, the people they have sex with dont say no and they arent hurting anyone so shouldnt that be legal and socially accepted as well ?

The only real necrophiliac I ever heard of was Jeffrey Dahmer. I certainly wouldn't say he didn't hurt anybody.

I'm not gay, but making statements like that can insult people. Whether homosexuality is morally wrong or not seems to be a matter of opinion. The Bible condemns homosexuality in the Old Testament, but it also condemns masturbation. Nobody seems to think masturbation is a crime or health problem anymore, as long as somebody doesn't do it in public.

There seems to be some scientific evidence that at least some people are born gay--but nothing is conclusive. Some people have homosexual behavior in the absence of people of the opposite sex (like prison) but they don't necessarily follow that behavior when they don't live in that situation, and I don't think anyone believes all criminals who go to prison were born gay.

In previous generations woman who were opinionated were deemed to be disordered too... its a cultural thing, not a biological or "disease" thing... same as being gay. I just don't think it is widely seen as acceptable in many societies. That doesn't make it a mental disorder.

Do people always have sex to reproduce?? I don't think so! If a person has sex just because they want to, for the "fun of it" so that make them disordered? I don't think so!

If you choose to be gay, why does that make it a disorder???

You seem to assume from the get-go that being gay is a disorder. Maybe it is not a disorder at all... ?

Necrophilia is different. Sex is meant to be consensual, between adults. You can't get consent from a dead person. It is highly highly disrespectful.

I would not put gay sex in the same category at all.

I think you need to rethink your assumption that being gay is a disorder.

It is not in the DSMIV anymore (that is the diagnostic bible in psychiatry).

In answer to your question though: people are born gay, or straight, or maybe... (God forbid *sarcasm*) somewhere in between - bi-sexual.

Hey, if you really want some brain exercise, have a think about trans-gendered people...

technological awareness has made progression in genetics, and that's starting to be to be further and extra obvious, almost to a certainty scientifically speaking, that persons are certainly born gay. the frequently mocked actual features of a few gay people - adult males with intense, lilty voices and a reasonable lisp, and the deep voice and muscular physique of a few lesbians, as an occasion - are in many situations latest in gay people to one quantity or yet another. those at the instant are not issues they pretend to have, or make up in order that they are able to look gay, they're a factor of the guy's actual makeup. some adult males are born to be very muscular and masculine, others to be smaller and much less masculine. Why could no longer some adult males be born to be on the particularly much less masculine end of the bell curve? some women are born to be very dainty and lady, some are born to be muscular athletes. Why could no longer some women be born on the particularly masculine area of the bell curve? Be logical for a 2d (no longer you, asker, your readers). no you could pick to stay an entire life of being persecuted, mocked and hated, each so often brutalized or maybe murdered, in order that they could have some non-classic or "illicit"intercourse. it particularly is no longer approximately intercourse. it is approximately who they're. it particularly is a shame that segments of society, somewhat Christians, attempt so complicated to persecute those people and to deprive them of a similar human rights that they anticipate for themselves.

I am not gay either, very strange 2nd poster says he thinks it is a choice, that would mean I could chose to be gay... but I know I can't, I'll never be able to feel for a man like I feel for a woman. Probably the 2nd poster can, which means he probably is gay, but suppresses his gay feelings.

My answer then: I think people are born heterosexual or homosexual and there is no real choice in the matter. Hell, if there was I might consider becoming gay, I live in one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world -Holland- and it would mean free sex whenever I wanted to (just enter a gay bar).

You call it a mental disorder, have to disagree on that, it is just a different condition, gays of course are not likely to have children, but so are many other people -out of choice for instance-. If someone decides he or she doesn't want children would you call that person mentally disturbed? I know I wouldn't

So by your way of thinking a left handed person has a mental disorder? I guess also someone that is born unable to have children must have a mental disorder too. Pretty ridiculous thinking isn't it? As far as a sexual perversion---dead people can't give consent, duh. If this is what you come up with after a lot of thought PLEASE, don't think so much.

We're born that way. And it is in no way a mental disorder. Reproductive process?? There are many people who choose not to or are unable to 'reproduce' and there are many who do reproduce and shouldn't.

As for necrophiliacs, the people they have sex with don't say yes either.

I am NOT gay, but I have a friend that is a medical doctor and he says people are born that way. Therefore, a mental disorder has nothing to do with that condition.
The only way they might have a mental problem is from people like you that don't seem to accept them.

Wow such "logic"(yea right)and a poor attemp to rationalize your propaganda. Like this is a "serious" question. Show me your medical degree and prove your a board certified psychiatrist. Then and only then will you be able to make such a judgement otherwise shut the f**k up because you don't know what your talking about. Comparing gay people to people who are severe deviants just shows your stupidity. Were you born straight? You were ? Please prove that to us all.
