Although I have used hickory, maple, mesquite and pecan chips in our grill to add flavors, my very favorite is apple chunks. We get them at the grocery store in the outdoor cooking section. We stock up because at our stores they are only available in the summer. My husband has also found wood chunks at WalMart.

particular, by skill of all skill soak the chips. continuously use Hickory, and extra perfect yet try to purchase some Mesquite chips. They burn warmer, and function a extra perfect style. One trick I discovered is to soak the chips, place them in tin-foil and punch holes interior the foil and the chips won't seize on hearth yet will reason the smoke to return out. i attempted one time in simple terms cooking with stable wood (oak). That replaced right into a disaster. The steaks tasked in simple terms like "wood" just to sturdy of a style. Pecan wood is super, and so is Apple branches, yet too me Mesquite is by skill of a few distance the favourite. Kingsford has charcoal with mesquite blended interior the charcoal.

Mesquite is the most popular, but hickory is also good. You can usually find small bags of the stuff in places like Home Depot, sometimes in Wal Mart and grocery stores, and certainly in barbecue supply places.
