why is the picture quality of region 1 dvds so poor on multiplayer dvd?

the picture is very pale even after adjusting the brightness etc

Because it is American NTSC = Never The Same Colour - as it is known publically - don't know how you will get around the problem - I had some Region 1 DVDs and to be honest, everytime they were watched thay were totally different quality - so I binned them!

I have DVDs from all over the world and from many different regions - they all look and sound absolutely fine, just as good as any Region 2 disc.

What make is your DVD player and your television?
