Of course we evolved. This silly idea that an invisible great being who lets children be sexually abused and killed and lets all wars happen (in the name of religion) is a fairytale. Our Ancestors were Apes. At least we can prove that. God is a myth to scare kids

Firstly what an excellent answer by As_It_Is, they should win this.
My opinion is that we evolved to a certain extent, and then our DNA was tampered with by an outside force, aliens, gods what ever it may be.
no 'missing link' found yet so how did we just jump a few levels? we only use something like 1/4 of our brain so there's no need for the further 3/4, If we had evolved like this then we would be using all our brain. it was given to us and we just don't know how to use it yet. I also believe this is where religion started people saw/see these beings as gods. Occasionally they check up on us to see whats happening.
theres also a theory that yes Adam and Eve were created but not first before anyone else. 'God' broke away from a group of gods to start his own 'people'

If you're a non-believer in anything then simply don't believe in anything! Look up & research all you can and make an informed decision. Scientists don't believe things until there is logical proof & evidence displayed & argued.
Everyone has the right to believe whatever they want to, be it from looking at experiments and methods, or from reading a very old book.
If you can't decide then don't.. Focus on what you do know and use it to help others. Arguing doesn't usually help if 2 people believe the opposite thing with complete conviction.
You see, christians are taught 'faith', which is another way of saying don't question what you are told.

I am not an atheist, but I don't believe we were created, I believe we evolved. I went to a religious school and we were actually told that the Old testament was a nice story, a bit like Greek mythology, I do think that was just a particular teachers point of view though. We were encouraged to discuss our thoughts on creation/evolution from first year comprehensive and weren't brainwashed into beleiving anything.

Well i dont believe in the adam and eve thing my own belief is the ape theory. One of my children also came home and said God created buildings and God created trees and flowers, I said well mum doesnt think so, hard working people built these buildings so they could make money for their family and a gardener planted the trees and the flowers,. Maybe i shouldn't have disagreed with his teachers but i certainly dont want my children being brought up to believe you dont have to work hard for anything and someone else will do your work.

Why no take time out and find out. Gets books out of the library and sit down with you sonand learn together. You will enjoy the experience believe me you will. Then armed with all the information you can find you can then make up your own mind one way or another.
But you will probably still not have a definate answer to your question even then as this is still a question that remains unanswered for Millions of people worldwide.

We share a common ancestor with apes.
The bible says we came from adam and eve because basic biology and the problems of inbreeding and genetic fidelity were not known to fiction writers at the time.

I'm a christian, and I believe that we WERE created by God Himself. Scientists just made an assumption that we were evolved from apes, which is not true. If you were to believe these scientists, what about the other apes out there? Have they forgotten to evolve as well? When I was young I used to ask myself this question. But now the Lord has given me the answer...that the Bible is the word of God and it is the truth. I have no more doubt that these scientists are wrong. I hope you tell your son about this. Praise the Lord if you do. =)

If you are a non-believer in everything then you don't believe in creationism nor do you believe in evolution. I guess that leaves you without an opinion of how we all got here because you don't have first hand knowledge of it. It would require belief in one idea or another to decided what concept fits your image of the universe.
Personally I believe in evolution, but I think it is possible that it had a hand in the direction it took.

Personally I'm a non believer and I think children's early development has enough to contend with in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus.Asking them to believe that the world was created in 6 days is stretching it a bit.
