No. It was outlawed back before Utah became a state. The FLDS church (a renegade offshoot of the LDS Church) still hold to the pratice of polygamy, but that's one of the reasons why Warren Jeffs is in prison.

Mormon men can be 'sealed' (i.e. married for eternity, for after this life) to several women at the same time, but if they are married civilly to more than one, they will be both arrested by the law and excommunicated by the Church. When the Church banned polygamy in 1890, several offshoot groups continued the practice (some even to this day), even though it is illegal. You may remember Tom Green (polygamist, not TV personality) or Warren Jeffs bing put in prison for that.

Because of its polygamous past, the Church is the butt of a lot of polygamy jokes. As stated in the answer above, polygamy isn't really any worse than adultery or fornication, it's just illegal. God Himself has condoned it at times, very often in the Old Testament and to a limited extent in the New. Early Christians/Catholics often had more than one wife.

PS: Straighup: The Church 'forbade' it. (3rd-person preterit past conjugation of the verb 'to forbid')

Nope. "Legally" is not a religious thing, and "legally" no one can marry two people. Additionally, one of the basic beliefs of Mormons is to obey the law of the land. After polygamy was outlawed by our country the church forbid it. If anyone is found to be married to multiple people they will be kicked out of the church.

Officially by their church standards, yes. Legally,no they can not.
If an LDS man's wife dies, he can take another LDS woman the temple and be married to her there too. If that wife dies as well , he can take a third LDS woman to the temple to be married. So, going by what the church believes he has have more than one wife. He'll just have to wait until he dies to be with them all.

There was a time in their history that it was permissable but when utah was admitted into the union one requirement was that they drop this rule.

in America it's ilegal to marry two women, and give each one of them an equal right of marriage, but it's LEGAL to have three somes, make adult movies, have sex with different girlfriends.

make sense? no

No, thats bigamy. They can 'marry' as many women as they like in their weird cultish ceremonies but it wont be official ( at least not in the US ).

I think they believe they can, I know some odd sect of christanity does. In American law you cannot and will be arrested if you do
