Yes, you should get it injections. You can get them at the vet. There is about 8-10 needles and you have to go at different times. You should not let the dog see any other dogs until it gets at least half of those or your dog can get deathly ill.

If I where you, I would do some online research, there is plenty of information on the web, and I do agree with a couple of the other responses, return the puppy for a couple more weeks until it’s 8 weeks old, it will make your first dog experience a little more manageable.
In that two weeks you will have time to research most information about dogs in general, and ask your friend what breed it is or breed mix it is if it's a cross.
research those breed/s too find out temperament associated with the breed/s and remember that a puppy at is like a new borne child they don't understand till they are taught and smacking or belting the **** out of it isn't going to help it learn
if you really want to keep the dog these things you will need to secure PATIENCE & SACRIFICE, PERSISTANCE & PRAISE but once your pup has come through I think with the PSPP thing you’ll find it was one of the best things you have ever done
dogs are not as stupid as people think just to give you an idea I never have to speak sharply or shout at my dogs if I do they know they are in trouble, given that I never have to physically wack them. So it’s obvious that my method of training is effective
and my research had paid off.

at four weeks old it should still be with its mother. Even if its eatting hard food on its own the longer they are with mom the better. Most tractor stores and some pet stores sell puppy booster shots which tend to be sold under 10.00 that you can give the pup yourself. You should check to make shure it is not aginst your county or state law to admister shots yourself. You may also want to check with the vet you are planning to take the dog to to see if they will accept the self admistered shots. Some vets require each to be on record where as some allow you to do it as long as you can prove the shot was bought by seeing the recite and or bag the vaccine came with. You would normally start with the puppy shots at 6 weeks of age and then give a series of 3 more shots 3 weeks in between each. Some people and vets only give three shots instead of four. It really is a personal dession. Most state laws say the only shot a dog owner can not give their own dog is the rabis shot but this verries from county to county and state to state. With your pup being so young AND being took from mom so early, I would suggest that you DO NOT take your pup outside onto a lawn that other dogs walk on untill he/she recives the third shot, which is 12 weeks of age to reduce the risk of him catching parvo or any other major health issues. You may also want to worm the pup out with a puppy wormer because unless your friend has wormed him allready he will have worms and the longer you wait to treat them the heavier the infestation will be. Also check for fleas because again, a pup that young can die rather quickly if they are infested with fleas. If he needs a flea bath I would get a gental puppy flea shampoo or just use water to try to "flush" them off because of his age he can have a severe reaction to a flea shampoo and get sick or possibally die.

The puppy should of never left the mother at this age. 4 weeks is too soon to take it from its mother. At 6-8 weeks of age it needs its first puppy shots and dewormed by your vet.

you NEED to give the puppy back so it can be with its mother and littermates til 8 weeks old,, it is better for the puppies socialization, health etc...... no you do not inject it,,, at 8 weeks you will bring it to the vet for its injections,, and your breeder friend should have already started the worming schedule,, also breeders vet should have given him first set of shots before you get him at 8 weeks.... 4 weeks is WAY TOO YOUNG
