...It's too big for my apartment and it can't fit onto the balcony to have a dump. Do you think if I leave it out in the hallway one of the other people from the other apartments will take it in?

If this is a joke it isn't funny.

Surely it will be too big for the other apartments too?

If you really have a Great Dane you don't want and your friend won't take it back then find a dog rescue centre with a policy of never putting down healthy dogs and take it there.

I know that this is not a serious question as no-one in their right mind would buy the tallest breed of dog and then discover that it was too big!

Similarly no-one sane would even consider keeping such a large dog in an apartment.

Mind you there are a lot of people who dump (I mean dispose not defecate) their dogs when they get fed up with them - as a visit to any animal shelter will prove.

The Great Dane Rescue was set up to deal with the flotsam and jetsam of abandoned and unwanted Danes that people who hadn't a clue what they had taken on wanted to offload.

There is a poster on the previous page looking for a free Dane. Perhaps you can make some sort of arrangement with them. I hope this is a joke. Having a dog especially one that size is a Huge (no pun intended) responsibly. Impulse buying can be bad for both you and the dog. Have you tried walking the dog? Danes will fit in well as apartment dwellers if walked frequently.

Your question just goes to show your lack of intelligence and that you are obviously not competent of having a dog or any other creature. The name Great Dane should of given you a hint in the first place and you should of done your research about the breed before getting one. Obviously you are not up to owning it so you should ask your friend to have it back or take it to an animal shelter, they will be able to find it a suitable knowledgeable home!

leave it in the hallway? what's wrong with you? you shouldn't have been allowed to purchase a dog in the first place, your attitude is totally irresponsible.
if you can not humanely cope with this poor dog, then at least have the decency to contact your nearest rescue centre/RSPCA so they can look after it, love it and give it the care he/she deserves whilst they find it a new home.

ever heard of the saying 'a dog is for life, not just for Christmas'?
if you had a child, would you dump it in the hallway when it all gets too much? by the sound of it you probably would.

people should be thoroughly vetted before they are allowed to take on a dog, or any animal for that matter, so the poor defenceless creatures don't end up in utterly incapable hands such as yours.

I'm disgusted at your attitude and quite frankly you should be reported to the RSPCA/animal cruelty prevention society.

your dog should be taken for a long walk regularly each day, and if you haven't got a garden or at least a dog friendly park/open space nearby for him/her to run around then you shouldn't have bought it in the first place. it certainly shouldn't be left on a balcony to do it's business. you may like crapping on a concrete slab but the dog shouldn't have to be forced to have no alternative but to **** on a balcony AT ALL, let alone stuck out somewhere which is too small for it. it's not fair on the dog, and it's also a hygiene issue for you, and your neighbours (if you have any).

you state you didn't realise how big the dog was when you bought it... are you blind? either that or just totally stupid. you saw the dog, bought the dog therefore you were aware of it's size.

it saddens me that this animal is/will have to suffer because of your negligence.

do it a favour and contact the RSPCA so it can be cared for properly, and re homed by someone that actually wants to give the dog a loving home... by someone that actually gives a damn.

before taking on any pet you should research it and see if it fits into your house/lifestyle, if not then dont choose it. My advice would be to call a rescue and see if they will take it, if not, give it back to your mate and explain.

Plus, just for your info, the Great Dane is only the SECOND largest breed, the Irish Wolfhound is generally bigger. So if someone ever offers you one of those, you know for sure you cant take it!

Which part of the "great" didn't you get? Not really close to your mate if you didn't know he had a dog and how big it is!

Tut tut. You know what I think the RSPCA should do. They should do a wall of shame to those owners who abandoned and neglected their pets. And speaking of this subject any owner that abused their dog and was caught should do community service with a big sign on their back saying “ I neglected an animal” or whatever they did. They would get so much embarrassment from the public I’m sure they would be afraid to do it again.

I really dont think you are stupid enough to think a great dane would not be huge.

Re home it appropriately. Don't just "dump" her. This is why people need to do research on dogs before acquiring them.
