Cats fight as a last resort. It would first put its ears back and arch its back and puff up to show you how big it was and hiss to warn you it was getting very angry at you. All you would have to do at this point is leave and the cat would be happy. Cat fights are 93% bluster and noise.
If you persist, you will receive scratches and bites. Protect your eyes and try to retreat, (cat will consider him self to have won, and will stop) or grab the scruff of the cats neck, (what Momcat would have done with a kitten who was playing to rough with a litter mate) force him to the ground (claw side down) and say Bad Kitty.
Then wash all wounds with soap and warm water and apply a good antibacterial ointment. Seek medical attention if cat is not vaccinated for rabies or if you notice a fever over 100 or any of the bites look really red or nasty.
Or
Find another girlfriend, which ever is easier.

I don't think a cat would attack a man to the degree of seriously injuring him. And definitely he would never learn to do it on command. And even if he tried, a man is definitely stronger and would grab the cat and put it in another room or something, and get away with just a few bites and scratches. However, if by complete chance the bite is on a blood vein, there could be a lot of bleeding, but nothing too serious, perhaps it may need urgent treatment or a stitch or something. And the cat would only do that if he was too scared and you had grabed him out of his hiding place and wouldn't let go!

i dont think the cat would listen to her, unless she is some kind of animal trainer, and the cat is a tiger. Ive had some close calls with cats before, some do not like to be picked up and will tell you so with a claw in the eye, which really hurts, and if they were seriously angry i could see you losing an eye or two. It would have to be a sneak attack, but they are fast and sneaky, and unpredictable, it doesnt take much for some of them to stop purring and lash out. Id call her bluff if i were you, tie her up naked and dare her to do her best.

No, I don't believe a house cat could kill a man...BUT they could do you a lot of damage with their teeth and claws.
If you would get clawed or bitten very badly by a house cat and the wounds were to become infected and you did nothing for the infection...then yes, the infection could kill you.
On the other hand if you girlfriends cat is a cougar, you're in trouble!

The cat could theoretically scratch or bite you. Some cats are infected with the bartonella bacteria which resides under their nails. When they scratch you, they can transmit the bacteria to your wound. The bartonella bacteria causes "cat scratch disease" or bartonellosis. While most people only experience minor swelling, people who have compromised immune systems, such as those with HIV, can develop life-threatening reactions.

Cats would never kill. They are smarter than that. They are sweeter than dogs. Cats are cool. Don't believe what people have to say.
