It is illegal for us to ask that straight out and we treat every client as if they have bloodborne diseases, anyway.

When a client tells me, I thank them and I make sure that I work on them, and not my apprentice, who would be more prone to a needle stick injury. I am pretty much a fanatic in my disinfecting practices after each client, regardless.

I have hep c too, got it from my tongue ring getting done at a piercing party, and I'm going to get my first tattoo on Monday and I am for sure going to tell them. Don't be embarrassed it's something that you are stuck with and there's nothing you can do about it so just be honest upfront.

you should definitely tell the artist so they can take extra precautions. nothing makes my husband angrier than when patients (he is a paramedic) tell him they have no medical conditions only to later find out that they do have communicable diseases. i guess do unto others as you would have them do unto you. good luck with your tattoo!

i would say just let them know up front. they will most likely just take extra safety precautions. which will be good for everyoe involved.
