The self is honest. There is nothing for it to be dishonest about. Just place your awareness (the self) on your thoughts, and the thoughts that arise will be of your "self's" own choosing. The self is very patient and allows the freedom to create and reflect back to itself.
There is no "good" or "bad", only experience.
I have a question for me? Would "I" know what happiness even was, if "I" never experienced sadness?
No opposites, no experience, only being....

On the other hand, that literature which is full of descriptions of the transcendental glories of the name, fame, forms, pastimes, etc., of the unlimited Supreme Lord is a different creation, full of transcendental words directed toward bringing about a revolution in the impious lives of this world's misdirected civilization. Such transcendental literatures, even though imperfectly composed, are heard, sung and accepted by purified men who are thoroughly honest.
Srimad Bhagavatam 31.5.11
Therefore, if I have to be a honest man, I have to hear, sing and accept the descriptions of the transcendental glories of the name, fame, forms, pastimes, etc., of the unlimited Supreme Lord.

Is that possible? I guess strength and courage in hopes that you can find a way to actually pull that off. I wish I could be more honest with myself some times.

God is within yourself, and His voice is silently talking to you,but.....the problem is:Satan-Evil is also whispering, and constantly trying to misguide you!
Though the Bible has been corrupted by materialistic people in the past, there still are some verses of genuine divinity:treat others as you wish to be treated!Thou shalt not kill!
Love your ennemies[don't throw bombs on them!]Be veg:Genesis 1-29.
There are also verses, where "God" asks for animal sacrifices!Such teachings can't be true-as God doesn't require anything, surely not the sufferings of His creatures!
The changing of water into wine also is an addition to make this intoxicant a divine drink!Romans were heavy drinkers!
So,what you need is the pure teachings of a servant of God,who will guide you to Him.
His name is Prabhupada, and by preaching love of All creatures and God,He changed the destiny of the world!
Reading his books will make you honest with yourself....if you follow his guidance!
Honest people do not tie animals, cut their throats, and make a feast of their flesh!
Honest people do not drink alcool, which can turn them into rapists and violent creatures, killing people with their cars!
Honest people do not follow blindly crazy leaders, who declare wars just to steal the wealth of other countries!
Honest people do not blindly contribute to the weapons industry, that is murdering millions of people.
Honest people do not participate in the desertification of the continents,by meat-eating![whole forests are turned into pastures, causing land erosion and extinction of the causes of rain:trees.
Honest people do not indulge in sexual activities, detrimental to spiritual elevation.
Honest people are not scared to ask:is my spiritual guide a charlatan?

To be honest I have to test everything with my own experience to see if it's true or not. If there is no way to test it that way it's garbage. I really can not "make" myself be honest with myself. I am automatically honest with myself when I know what is. Religion can "make" a person be dishonest with themselves by telling them lies and saying they have to believe or Bla Bla burn in hell Bla Bla.

Unless you are in denial, you know who you are and what you are.
You can't fool yourself unless you are trying to justify your wrong doing.
Do what you have to do and do it when it has to be done.
Be all you can be to the best of your ability.
You can do it if you are sincere.

This above all:
To thine own self be true,
for it must follow as dost the night the day,
that canst not then be false to any man.

I make the decision to be, as Searcher put it, true to myself. I do so because it is in my best interest.
