This was necessary at the time. It is believed that Adam and Eve in their lifetime had probably around 56 children. Until the earth was populated this was allowed. It wasn't made a sin until the time of Moses. God created us and God made the necessary adjustments to our lives up until the time of Moses when it became a sin to "inbred". We all now look at this practice as a sin because we know the results can be disastrous in offspring. This was not the case until Moses informed the population they should no longer do this. If you read the Bible these things are no longer a mystery...

ok i'm currently taking a class in college called "the Christian Faith" and this was the topic today..

The bible is full of symbolism, the Adam and Eve story has a symbolic meaning. First of the definition of the word ADAM means MAN or (humanity), the definition of EVE is life. Meaning that GOD didn't create Adam and Eve as individuals, for he created the Human Race on Earth. THe reason for this symbolism in the Bible, is that for the mistakes of the very first population we have to suffer today. Their search for knowledge and thruth got them excluded from eternal hapiness.( Tree of Knowlege, Garden of Eden) It was easier to use two individuals to explain what happened, that's why the Bible uses the names ADAM and EVE. So to awnser your question, NO WE ARE NOT SOME INBRED HILLBILLIES!!!!!

Hint: Adam is the Hebrew word for Man, not one man, but all Man. Eve is the Hebrew word for Life. A woman did not tempt a man into turning away from God. Mankind was tempted by life.

At some time in the past man became very different to all other animals who is to say that because of some inbreeding it is not unfeasable to feel that the great move from animal to human was caused by inbreeding.

Well a Christian will answer yes to this question - however, adam and eve are fictional characters, 'God' did not just suddenly make humans - we evolved from creatures over millions of years, if you believe in the bullsh*t of adam and eve you'll believe anything! evolution is PROVEN!
thank you for your time hehe

How logical ... but why so vehement? Every religion has tales ... told in ancient times to sway the populace to be of good behaviour ... and it is matter of 'faith' and nothing else ... and no right thinking person would pass judgement on another's ... we all have our own foibles and susceptiblities to maintain or guard against ...!

Then Darwin discovered Evolution and now we all know it was just a story made up by ignorant uneducated people, but still a cute story. Nothing mot nothing less.

Well, I guess that would mean that they had to sleep together.
Of course, this story didn't actually happen.

I dunno about sick. If you had Carmen Electra for a sister....... Eve must have been hot. I wonder if Adam let some of his sons hit that.
