I do not consider myself disabled i try live a very normal life, however there are times when it is not possible for me to work which is why i only do temp work so i take every day as it comes but when i dont work it becomes difficult to keep up the low income, plus the fact that its not on the medical exemption list to get free drugs/medicine as required

Some adults with sickle cell disease (SCD) are so badly affected they could never work full time, whereas others are much less affected, and are only unable to work when in crisis.

If an adult with SCD is unable to work because of the disease then they can claim benefits, and I have written many, many letters to various agencies to organise this.

No, you are not automatically eligible to get benefit. If you are sick you will be entitled to SSP. If this is prolonged you would move to disability. The disease however qualifies for no particular special DHHS management.
