Dryness is a property of alcoholic beverages that describes the lack of a sweet taste. This may be due to a lack of sugars, the presence of some other taste that masks sweetness, or an underabundance of simple carbohydrates that can be converted to sugar by enzymes in the mouth (amylase in particular). The term "dry" may be applied to types of beer, wine, distilled spirits, or any other form of alcoholic beverage.

Drinks can be sweet or dry, it's the type of boons used to make the drink itself. Another example, wines. Wines are sweet or dry.

Sorry I couldn't offer more info, but that is what I know regarding alcohol, I'm not much of a drinker. I'd ask my sister who helps run a nightclub, but she's asleep. Hope this helped!

When a wine is described as dry it is referring to the taste it leaves on your palette. It is not sweet and also leaves a 'dry' feeling in your mouth, kind of like when you drink pure cranberry juice.

It has dry vermouth in it, as opposed to sweet vermouth. The drier the drink, the less vermouth.
