On occasion I give my dogs raw carrots and apple slices. They like it and its good for the teeth. I also give my dogs boiled chicken and rice if they have stomach upsets. We do allow the occasional treat of cultured yogurt mixed with the food of both pups and adults.

I feed mine the raw diet and veggies and fruits are included in the diet i feed them. They do benefit from having veggies and fruits put into their diet. do not feed avocados because they r on the toxic food list and do not feed the pits of any fruits because some are toxic to dogs. So i just stay away from the seeds and pits of all fruits to be safe. rice and chicken is good to feed your dog, but rice can be very fattening. I prepare my dogs meals the raw way because it is better than the dog food in the stores(grocery stores and vet)
all natural foods like canidae, innova, solid gold, california natural and wellness are some really good all natural dog foods with these ingrediants already in them. But feeding extra veggies and fruit even meat will benefit the dogs health.

as its been said, they are both safe for your dog. If you feed him rice make shure its not every day because rice can add on the pounds. Many people use rice to help a dog gain weight when they are skinny or in the winter months to help keep the fat on the dogs if they are kept outside. So if your dog is neither of the two I would feed it more as a treat rather then a main part of his diet.

Recently a vet told me that chicken, rice, peas and carrots are BEST for dogs... he urged me to stear away from store dog food with meat. I always buy a high quality but he discouraged the ones with MEAT.
He said the very best way to feed your dog is to PREPARE MY DOG'S ACTUAL MEALS by boiling my chicken, letting it cool then chopping it up into cooked rice, carrots, and peas... (like I have time to do that??).... Instead he eats Nutro (with the same stuff). So this I guess is indeed people food.
I did tell the vet it confused me cuz my entire Life I've heard the opposite, but he said that a lot of dogs are allergic to beef (if this has already been stated, please fogive). :)

Rice and vegetables are perfectly safe for dogs. Dogs are more omnivorous....as opposed to cats who are obligate carnivores.
Rice is actually recommended for dogs who are having diarrhea and/or vomiting problems. It's part of a bland diet to help get their bowels back in order slowly and easily before reintroducing their regular diet.

I feed my dogs a wide variety of home made food. This is because commercial canned dog food uppsets their stomach and gives them runny poo.
I usually feed my dogs lightly cooked or fried chicken mixed with rice and or lightly fried chicken liver, occasionaly ham. I add steamed vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower and carrots to their meals and give them a chicken neck regulary to keep their teeth clean.

anything with to much sugar or any chocolate is bad. All meats are good. I also used to feed my dog apples and oranges just to give them something to chew on and lick, it didn't bother them.

It is safe as long as you feed them the right vegetables. Natural yoghurt, cheese, garlic, parsley and carrots are also good for them.
