It has come to light that out of all the celebritys that take part in children in need, only Terry Wogan draws a pay packet from The charity event. How many of the answers community think it is about time he was replaced with a celebrity that will do the job in the spirit of "charity"and let the money go to where it is needed.

Yes, I read about this in the newspapers a few days ago. He gets paid something ridiculous like 1300 quid an hour for presenting it. OK, the beeb pay it not the charity, but it is a bit hypocritical to accept that amount of money whilst presenting a show for charity that asks people who may not even be getting that amount each month to give their . IMHO he should be giving his service gratis for this type of event.

These charities should be renamed as a business and it should be called:( ripping off the people business) for all the years that charity has been running all the children in Britain should be Millonaire's by now. What you are really saying is that Terry Wogan is the only one who has declared his earnings. I believe all charity donations should be handled by one body and distibuted evenly among the registered charities. Even then its impossible to tell how much is being kept back for so called administration purpose's.

I think this demonstrates the arrogance of the man and gives charities as a whole a bad name - as evidenced by some of the postings on here. I assume (and hope) that the £1300 an hour is paid by the BBC rather than Children in Need, which would be better, although not brilliant.

Yeah I was gobsmacked by the news about Wogan, I thought he was a better person than that. So yes do it for free or don't bother, even better donate the fee you would have got direct to the charity.

Terry who? Yea, this person should be replaced, immediatly. I don't even have a clue who this person is and there are way better celebritys out there who would do more for less.
