woundering about Muslims....?

i was woundering why muslim women have to wear those vails to cover half their face not quit sure what they are called but what would happen to them if they dont wear them? Also why do some muslim women wear them and not others?

Covering half face is veil along with the hair, full sleeves and trouser reaching to ankles while leaving the face open and following the rest is Hijab, Veil is Cultural, its not ordered in islam, and they can keep their face open while hijab is mandatory......And there is nothing specialy about it, its just for the modesty of muslim women, At the time of Muhammad(pbuh) , the early islamic era, muslim women were having some problem while going out so they were ordered to keep this type of dressing so that she could be recognised as muslim and they should be safe from lustful eyes of enemies ! and this is the reason muslim women are following it till now. Some women hide their face as well on their choice mostly in eastern countries

Women are required to cover themselves. I think they are requied to cover their heads but covering the face is probably optional. Some things are related to culture. Like covering the face is more of an Arab culture. It depends which country they are from. Although I dont know much so cant say .
