God, according to MOST major faiths, is someone with a lot of hate.He/she/it has flooded the world and murdered people throughout many religous texts.According to most religious texts, if you're bad you go to a place of torment for all eternity. That has to be about the most evil and vile thing to do to someone you created. That would be like setting your child on fire for saying a swear word. So, I put forth that God=Hate.

So, is "loving God" an oxymoron?

A couple of answers are avoiding the many evil acts of God according to religious texts. His murder. His jealousy. His violence. His approval of violence in his name.He willingness to create you then send you to Hell for all time because he didn't like you after he created you.People need to stop apologizing for God and start accepting that he is not as nice as he is discribed by people deluding themselves.

Yep

"I've been worrying about God a little bit lately. It seems as if he's been lashing out, you know, destroying cities, annihilating places. It seems like he's been in a bad mood. And I think it has to do with the quality of lovers he's been getting. If you look at the people who love God now, you know, if I was God, I'd need to destroy something."

If God = Hate like you said, then how would he feel about people who love in his name. He would condsider that blasphomy and destroy loving people for that. The acts of judgment that you are talking about have their reasons. The flood happened because people were violent. If God were a hateful being he would have aproved of their behavior.

Do you know what hell is? it is separation from God. If God were evil, that would be a good thing and going to heaven (where you are with Him) would be terrible. God is LOVE. that is why people who choose to be evil cannot be with Him. Love is all that is good. That is why there is nothing good in Hell. Many non-believers like your self have agrued that Hell and God are incompatible. That is the truth. People who choose to reject God can't be in His presence. They make their choice on their own.

I notice you mentioned most major faiths. The founder of Christianity, Jesus Christ was God in the flesh. This is a God who sacrificed Heaven to come to earth and be amoung us. That right there is amazing. Then He was brutally murdered and forgave the people who did it to Him. That is a loving God. He experienced hell to save people from going there. God in the old testament set forth the law to let His chosen people know that they could not find favor by being good enough. That is why the law seems so harsh. But Jesus set us free from the curse of the law and suffered punishment in the place of undeserving evil men so that they may be redeemed and tranformed into people who will love like only He could love. We can't love as good as He does and that is why we all far short. Also if Love is the one and only way to live, and it is, then to worship anything other than Love(=God) is an evil thing to do. Hence His laws agianst worshiping false gods.

The last time I wrote to you, you said you were "surprised" by a Christian who showed no hate or judgement. I hope soon you will be surprised to find there is a God who is the same. A God who is Love.

Love is not mushy, Barney, fuzzy feelings. God providentially cares for every animal, creates beautiful land and nature, inspires people to love, gives hope. The goodness of God abounds everywhere.
The flip side of the coin is called justice. God could not be loving without justice. God is very tolerant. It was only when evil reached retributive parameters the God of the Bible dealt justice.
The Bible teaches that there is a sin that leads to death and that is the point when patient love crosses to just action.
The problem is that people push the limits past intolerable to the point that only retribution is the next step. So if people would just behave they wouldn't have to blame God for all the calamities. The Bible says that God stands daily with outstretched arms to a people who only shake their fists at him. So the problem really lies with people and their behavior not on a God of love. It is unfortunate that humans never address their behavior or responsibility but are quick to blame God for their consequences.
The parameters are set, however, God provided a solution to the hell problem by sending His own son Jesus Christ to atone for all evil and will pardon every believer. God treats people with dignity and allows people to respond to his propostion. The morality is real, the consequences are dire, and so now is the time to repent and turn from evil and find mercy with God in Jesus.

You are correct. GOD is righteous and will execute wrath the very same way hurricanes do, except a lot longer. And just like hurricanes there are many people who are warned over and over again that it is coming and they refuse to leave. In order to not experience GOD's wrath you simply have to believe in Christ finished work on the cross and stop sinning, This is love. It is no harder then evacuating from a hurricane. The question is are you willing to evacuate?

no He is not!!

the Bible specifically says that God is love....many times.

He sent His only Son to save us from our sin....He gave the greatest gift ever given

He does, however, hate/abhor sin. But He still loves the sinner

The Bible speaks nothing of an eternal hell....but of a lake of fire that will consume sin and sinners forever....God does not torture forever but everybody must pay for their sin

God is love..... but He must eventually Get rid of sin

Please accept Him today

God Bless

First of all, the bible is full of 'symbolism'. Hell is actually 'eternal separation' from GOD,..(after you die, wishing you would have excepted him (gotten 'saved') when, you had the chance (or more than one chance to!!!) It's not real 'fire'!~:-) ...Anyway, He is a veeerrry patient GOD! ( Thank GOD!!!!!!!!), & proly knocking at your 'door' :-) Hope You chose Him, Its a free 'gift', what is there to lose??!!! :-)...He help's-Not hurt's!!!!..Love's-Not Hate's!!!
Happy 'Flying' :-)!!!<><
