The Walters P-22 is a rimfire .22 pistol only (the model designation precludes it being available in any other caliber, hence the P-22). The PPK is no longer available in .22 or .25 acp, but only in .32 Auto & .380 acp. Of course, the PPK is more powerful. Both are very reliable.
Logically, the PPK is designed for rimless ammo. When it was available in .22 it was 'modified' for a rimmed cartridge. This would tend to make it 'less' reliable than the P-22 which has always been designed for rimmed 22 ammo, but this is speculation. Walthers are very reliable pistols when used with the proper ammo. Some earlier PP & PPK models had problems feeding anything but ball ammo, however, that has been corrected in the latest generation. I have owned both and it is my experience that both the PPKs (the particular model I owned was 's' for stainless) and the more modern P-22 were and are EXTREMELY reliable pistols.
Final Note: I learned through experimentation that my particular P-22 prefers the hottest .22 Long Rifle over the standard or sub sonic loads. Currently I'm using CCI Mini Mags in it.
Good luck.

The WALTHER PP, PPK or PPK/S models, chambered in .22lr, .25ACP (6mm), .32ACP(7,62mm), and .380ACP(9mmKurz) were all some of the most reliable pocket auto pistols made. Except for the near useless .25, both other center-fire chamberings were more powerful than the .22, which, logically, in both pistols, were equal.
Reliability of All Walthers, including the P-22, PP and PPK models is EXCELLENT.

The P22 is a .22lr pistol while the PPK comes in either .380acp, .32acp and sometimes 9mm luger, so the PPK is more powerful and has been around since before WWII so it has proven it's reliability at least to me.

Get the PPK in .380.
I had a PP22 and it was way too small and inaccurate. Could not hit a target at 5 yards. It's a novelty, not a real firearm.
