Unix and Linux are relatives. You can say that linux is a spin off of unix. I think of it as a parent of Unix. Windows is for grandma and my daughter to play their games.

If you are a hard core gamer keep a windows box around. Everything else use Linux. The best unix like distribution is FreeBSD.

Linux is for me.

I am not sure about where to find comparisons, Unix is mainly a command line operating system desigened for IT professionals and servers. Windows has the most programs avalible for it, and if you are a gamer stick to windows, Linux is great and has heaps of good free software. The best way to learn about linux is to try a distribution that you can run a "live CD" version, this means that it will run directly off the cd so you will not have to delete your current OS to try it, just keep in mind that the live cd version runs heaps slower than as if it were installed on your hard drive. The distrobution that i use is Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/ You can either download the disk image of the latest version, purchase the current version on CD, or order a free cd with the previous edition on it, witch has hardly anything different to the current edition.

Windows Xp sucks and is just spyware for Bill Gates and all the sucky copyright holders that hold back progress in the world of the internet. A clunky slow, resource wasting, spyware operating system.

Unix is for professionals and great for servers, etc. Truly pro. Not for amateurs.

Linux is something to hold you back and claims to be free when it is not. I don't have time to play games with an operating system when I need to do something. Just a OS to play around with. A real joke.
