I ignored your math post because I'm an auditor.

We "prove" things for a living, and our evidenciary demands are rigourous.

Your definition is pretty narrow. There is also a judicial defnition of proof, an economic definition, an historical defnition, and several for the sciences, depending on which one you trend towards.
