My speakers play music when there is no media playing on my computer...?

...it plays files I have(or have had) on my computer. When turning the volume on the speakers to max you can hear it, but you still have to listen close. I have no media players running, and no other devices close by that would play sounds. (radio, cellphone, etc.) It even does this when the computer is shut down. Any ideas?

if the problem still continues to exist when the computer is shut down, it's most likely the problem lies in the speakers.

try unplugging the speakers and unconnecting them from the computer.

go to start -> control panel -> sounds, speech, etc. -> mess around with the speaker settings.
