It's 3:17am, I can't sleep, If I try to sleep and actually succeed at it I will have to get up in exactly 3 hours to go to work...Should I sleep, or just get a shower, have some breakfast and go to work?

Why can't I sleep, i've been like this for nearly 3 weeks now...

Your body needs sleep. Not quite so sure this is the right answer "medically" speaking. But myself I would not sleep. I would get a shower, eat a good breakfast, and take ur butt to work, dont fall asleep. And do not take a nap or sleep before your normal time of needing to be in bed (10 pm or so). You should be dead tired and ready for bed and hopefully back on schedule!

Try sleeping tonight-yes. Even a "nap" is better than nothing. Or, if need be, just close your eyes, and lay there and relax. That will help too. As to why you can't sleep-for the past three weeks? Well, what change(s) have you gone thru in the past few weeks, if any? Drinking coffee or tea in the evening when you usually don't ? Are you worrying about something? Too much on your mind? Could you please consider going to the doctor to see if there is something he/she can do to help? Blood tests are possible. To find out if there is a physical reason for the lack of sleep. If not physical, could you please consider going to a counselor? Are you by any chance feeling depressed lately? Having someone to talk things over with, such as a counselor, is helpful. And, if depression is the problem, sometimes an anti-depressant med can help as well. For the rest of the night (early morning) till your alarm goes off, please try to relax and rest. I wish you the best. Take care.

Poor you!!! Im serious. Sleep deprivation is the worst form of tourture. Maybe you are thinking to much about how long it is till you have to get up?? I dont know, maybe you could try having a glass or two of red wine an hour before you retire.

There are many variables. Either you change the pattern of your sleeping habbit, your diet changes, stress, anxiety or medications. If this pattern of your sleep only happen lately then look @ what changes in your routine, if not then there are more deeper issues and you need professional assistance.
