I'm having trouble learning to let everything out of my mind go in order to relax and meditate. Why is this so hard? What's the secret.... and does this really help you with anything?

Find a suitable position in a bright lit room and sit there. Fold your legs, close your eyes.. Make sure you are able to see nothing. Take deep breaths.. And then think about something that makes you happy... Once you are done, take few more deep breaths.. Open your eyes. You should be able to feel relaxed now.

the thing about thoughts is that the more you try to get rid of them the more they come. The key is what they call awareness. Awareness is what you have when you watch a movie - you just watch, and see what happens. You don't have to make the movie happen. You just sit there.

If you do the same with your thoughts they slowly clear.

As for helping anything, i think in itself it is not much, but the good bit is if you keep that awareness up you eventually find a lot of love, and that really does help...

first,you have to go to a place where you can be alone and be yourself.like for example,go to the beach,mountains,rest house or you can use your room and try select a position that is relaxing and close your eyes and think of something,anything in your life that really made you happy...recall that situation,and feel how it made you happy...the satisfaction that you felt during that very moment...try that and you will be relax or even get a good sleep and when you wake up you can start your new day again....try it now

be focusing on a clear candle light for few days.then try to close your eyes slowly and make image in your mind.... if you are able see the image clearly without any disturbances without any sound heared by u,then u ll b able to concentrate easily on ur problems and u can find solutions clearly
