take it easy at first, like any exercise you should build up the duration and pace of your running, make sure you have good quality shoes and maybe join a running club, they will be able to check out that your style is correct and not causing undue stress on any part of your body

Your warmup and your cooldown are equally as important as your run. Stretch before and after running for a good 10 minutes. You can also walk the last few hundred meters and stretch for 5 minutes. It gets better, trust me!

i heard fast paced walking actually burns more caliories because of the weight that your carrying with your feet touching the ground more. when you jog, your bouncing off your heals... something like that.
but good posture would help and drink water cause it cushions your joints

Two essentials you should not scrimp on...
1) Sports bra, and
2) running shoes
Try walking like a 1/2 mile after your run, to cool off...epsom salt in your bathwater may help with sore muscles.
