You may be eating before you go to bed and the acid from your stomach that's trying to brake down that food you ate is coming up.
Don't eat anything before bed, Eat 4 to 5 hours before you go to sleep.
Try not sleeping laying down flat, position yourself with a couple of pillows behind your back in slight upright position for a couple of nights and see if that helps.
It really sound like your eating before bed. you really don't want to start taking pills to solve this problem when you can do it yourself.
If this does not help only then you should see a doctor.
Hope you feel better soon!

yep - sounds like acid reflux to me too.... it's where the valve that stops the acid in your stomach from flowing backwards when u are laid down leaks a little bit, and it results in really bad heart burn & the acid sensation in your mouth that you've described. there are a few things that can help - prop yourself up slightly on a pillow - it helps gravity keep the acid where it belongs, make sure u don't drink anything but water past 8pm, anything like coffee or alcohol is literally just going to add fuel to the fire, and also don't eat a big meal in the evening - it will put extra pressure on the valve that is already leaking.... u could also try having an antacid tablet / liquid medicine if u wake up in the night. ( i live in the uk, so if u live elsewhere u will have to see which products are out there for excess stomach acid ) i used gaviscon liquid when i was pregnant & suffered from heartburn, but now i find that Pepcid Two tablets are a lot more effective, and they last for about 12 hours...

follow Dan The Answer Man's advice. He said it correctly. Important. Sleep with your head elevated. Take an anti-acid before going to sleep. Don't eat before sleep-time. Make sure your suppers are mild rather than "hot" or even semi-hot and see what occurs. No Mexican food in the evening. Go easy on the garlic and fried stuff.

Sounds like a condition called 'reflux'. This is where the acid in your stomach rises causing burning sensation. It is treatable by prescribed drugs. See your doctor. D.

You need to sleep with your head elevated.....and take an antacid.....if you have affordable access to a doctor, ask about Protonix. If you can get that and take it for two days, your problem will be solved no matter how you sleep.
In the meantime, cut down on acidy foods, mainly tomato sauce and anything spicy.
Good luck!
