The base line weight for a female 5' tall is 100 lbs. 5 lbs for every inch over 5'. For caloric intake per day, take the weight you should be 125 lbs. (min.) times (x) 15=1,875 calories per day to eat. Why not less? I asked this myself a few years back. Okay, you should weight 125 lbs, you currently weigh more than that. So it only makes sense that if you take the caloric intake that you need to have at 125 lbs, it makes sense that because you weigh more than that, you are taking in more calories for the weight you are. Therefore, you won't have to change your caloric intake once you get to 125 lbs. You will already be there, and have lost the weight just fine. The best "diet", or really normal, healthy way to eat? If you can, talk with a nutritionist, and get the diabetic exchange diet. All it is, is eating normal healthy foods, with the caloric intake measured. Quite a good variety of foods too. By the way, for your information, at your current weight and height, you are currently taking in 2,790 calories per day.Difference of only 915 calories per day. Not bad. Please, drink at least 8 (no more than 10) 8 oz. glasses of/ or 4 15 oz bottles of water per day. This will help keep you properly hydrated, giving you a little more energy, and help wash the bad stuff out of your system. Please also eat well balanced meals, meats, carbs, veggies, fruit, etc. Allow yourself a "little" treat once a week. For instance, on a Sun afternoon, you might want a scoop of ice cream for a snack. That is ok-just not ok every day. Also, exercise, walking, swimming, bowling, stuff like that is good to do to. It helps you burn the calories you eat every day. And, to let you know, muscle weighs more than fat .. And that is ok, and good. Please don't ever really consider "dieting". That is something only temporary. Lifestyle eating/exercise, activities is the way to think. Eat normal healthy foods, exercise, and enjoy life. You will do fine. You need to be eating healthy all of your life. I wish you the best. Take care.
