It started yesterday. I was hoping it would go away by today but every 5 minutes or so it comes back. When it's most intense, it feels like piercing or pressure in a small area (not large area). Sometimes it goes away about 5 minutes an sometimes it linger on mildly for many minutes or even hours.

Previously I had a different type of pain in my chest and I had an ekg done but there was no problem.

There is no history of heart disease in my family.

I think if it doesn't go away by tomorrow, I will definitely go to the doctor but if it's normal, is there anything i can do?

When I say small area, I mean about a couple inches radius.

Go see a different doctor, or go to the emergency room they will try to find out what's wrong with you.

maybe they missed something?

Insist that doctors try to find out what's wrong with you!

My older brother and I have the same problem. The pain is on the left side of the chest. We think it's either stress related, too much caffeine, or not enough physical activity. Anxiety runs in our family and I just found out that chest pain does too. My brother asked the doctor what it could be and the doctor said that it could be due to many factors. 1. Stress and anxiety 2. nerves pinching 3. strain

I got this from a website for you...

Call 911 if:

You have sudden crushing, squeezing, tightening, or pressure in your chest.
Pain radiates to your jaw, left arm, or between your shoulder blades.
You have nausea, dizziness, sweating, a racing heart, or shortness of breath.
You know you have angina and your chest discomfort is suddenly more intense, brought on by lighter activity, or lasts longer than usual.
Your angina symptoms occur at rest.
You have sudden sharp chest pain with shortness of breath, especially after a long trip, a stretch of bedrest (for example, following an operation), or other lack of movement that can lead to a blood clot in your leg.

Hope you get better!

There are many causes for chest pain other than heart problems. It can be hard to figure what exactly will cause it. Sometimes it can be anxiety or even a nervous system signal from another part of the body. It is good to get it checked out.

Hi David, I had a problem about pain in my heart and chest last month. It wake me up in the morning with what i thought was a start of a heart attact. I got up from bed and it started to get worse the pain. I had to sit down on the couch in the livingroom. I thought it was for 10 minutes, but it was 35 minutes. I got up and the pain was terrible. i walked very slowly and was holden onto my left breast where your heart is.I went out and was looking for my daughter and she saw me and ran to be and said, mom is it your heart and i said yes. SOMEONE called for help and i was on my way to the hospital and they thought i was having a heart attact too. I had to stay in the heart ward over night. They ran all sorts of test and thank GOD it wasn't my heart. It was my stomach. My doctor told me that sometimes problems with your stomach will make it look like you are having a heart attact. Now i have bills coming out of my butt, but at least it wasn't my heart.
A Friend.

YES IT IS SERIOUS, I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCES. I HAD OPEN HEART SURGERY TWICE BECAUSE OF THE SAME THING YOU ARE SAYING. BUT GET THIS, I WENT BACK AND FORTH TO THE DOCTOR AND THEY KEPT TELLING ME THE SAME THING (OH ITS NOTHING). BUT IT WASN'T UNTIL I COLLAPSED ONE DAY AT WORK JUST DOING NOTHING. I WENT TO MORE THAN ONE HOSPITALS FOR DIAGNOSIS AND EVERYBODY MOSTLY TOLD ME THE SAME THING THAT I WAS YOUNG AND IT IS NOTHING BUT STRESS AND TENDERNESS IN YOUR BODY CAUSE YOUR STILL GROWING. I'M 24 YEARS OLD NOW HAD TWO OPEN HEART SURGERY BECAUSE OF A LEAKY VAIL. TAKE IT SERIOUSLY, I'M LETTING YOU KNOW FOR SURE KEEP ON GOING TO THE DOCTOR UNTIL SOMEONE HELP YOU ABOUT IT. ESPECIALLY IF THE PAIN GET BAD. EVEN IF IT GOES AWAY TRUST ME IT WILL COME BACK SOMETIME WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT. I HAD MANY EKG ECHOS ETC.... YOU NAME IT I HAD IT OVER AND OVER THE SAME ANSWER..... TAKE CARE OF YOUR SELF I HOPE THAT YOU GET BETTER AND GOOD BLESS YOU.....

You might have pulled a muscle inthat area. Pleae do go to the doctor just to make sure as to what is going on. Pain is not normal, it is your body saying to you to please listen, get it checked, because there is something wrong. Take care.

I am not a doctor, but I want to say that your health is too important to risk and that you should see a doctor. Better safe than sorry and best of luck to you.

you should get checked. It could be gas, anxiety, SVT, clots...

Go have another EKG done or a 24hr observation on a telemetry monitor.
