I am trying to download AVG anti virus protection but although I have taken off the McAfee it won't let me download AVG,it's saying that there is an outdated version of the programme Roxio EASY CD & DVD creator which contains a bug that (among others )may cause a problem,
This is evidently put on by the manufacturer, but although AVG suggests it's updated it won't let me update. Help I'm unprotected at the moment.Should I reinstall my McAfee?

If the registration for McAfee has not expired then reinstall it. There was no reason to remove it in the first place. The only thing good about AVG is that it is free.

I really don't get this. You've removed McAfee yet it's stopping you downloading AVG because you have an outdated version of Roxio Easy CD and DVD creator that is causing a problem. If you really want to use AVG then you'll have to uninstall Easy CD and DVD creator.

Like you, I don't believe you should have to pay for anti-virus: I used to use ClamWin until my bank gave me F-Secure. ClamWin does not have on-access real-time scanning. So unless you're sure you will not open an unknown email attachment without scanning it first, don't use it.
