Think about the foods you eat that trigger the acidity. Find their commonalities and work from there. For instance, if you are bothered by beef, potato chips, and chicken alfredo then what's probably setting your acidity off are things that have a high fat content so you should cut them out. If cutting your trigger foods out is not an option, try not to eat them past 7pm (or at least 3 hours before your bedtime). This gives your stomach time to digest. Also, don't lie down for at least 1 hour after you eat. This helps keep the acids in your stomach from settling and also from going back up the esophagus. On the other hand, you shouldn't go for a jog right after dinner either! This too could further irritate your digestive system. I would probably find something to do that is light in terms of movement but not stationery. A slow walk around the block or some light housework for about an hour after a meal would be good. Sounds weird but all of your body's movements involve your torso to some extent and your stomach can't digest properly if it is being jostled around! Hope this was helpful! Good luck and feel better!

I have the same problem. Milk seems to fix it but my Doctor told me that milk only masks the problem and could actually make it worst. He gave me Prilosec and my stomach was fine for about a month. I took Prilosec again and it's been about 8 months and I have had no problems with my stomach. I also have been staying away from acidic foods. I hope this helps.

Hi! the human digestive system is required to produce acids so as to digest the food we eat. But some times there is an excess secretion of these acids, basically this problem is triggered with eating spicy and oily foods. Try to take good healthy food and maintain proper timings, don't skip meals, avoid junk food, eat fresh fruits and vegetables in the form of salads. Drink a lot of water. And there is a base to neutralize the acid guess what? milk, try to drink milk before going to bed and in the morning with breakfast. Your problem will take a turn for good. You can use RANTAC -150 mg

Drink a glass of water in empty stomach. Have morning tea/coffee with two biscuits. In order to reduce the acid lev el of your stomach, you should not leave the same empty for long so as to enable it to produce acid. You have to eat little every two hour period and please remember to give up chat items and sour ones. You better chose a diet chart for you which should contain items of salad in large quanitity and other vegetables having less chilli and oil. By maintaining your diet only you can get rid of this acid problem.

It may depend on your age. Many people in their forties begin having the symptoms of acid reflux. Eating chocolate in the evening or drinking anything with caffeine can exacerbate the problem. If you are younger, it can be that your diet needs to change, and you may want to consider not eating spicy foods, citrus, including drinking orange juice. A low residue diet and staying away from chocolate may help. It's worth a try for a few days and see if you see a difference. You are your best diagnostician. Good luck.

the best medicine has been given to us by the Mother Nature-WATER. There
is no substitute to it in the sense, it has no side-effects. Take as much as
possible, between the meals to dilute acidity. Fruit juices except citrus can
also be consumed. Aerated beverages should strictly be avoided.

1. Go to your doctor and make sure it's not something serious.
2. Carry TUMS with you and suck on them periodically.

Prilosec is very good for getting rid of heartburn and reflux, but over time, it can lead to stomach cancer... or so I've been told... so I've been sucking on TUMS quite a bit.

Prevacid is also good, but you need a prescription for it.
