The gallbladder's job is to store bile so without a gallbladder what does the liver do with it's excess bile? Are there any long term consequences to living with a gallbladder?

well I had mine removed about 2 years ago...
basically since I've had to watch what I eat. See bile's job is to break down the fats in the foods we eat and your right, the gallbladder does store it, so without it it just kinda flows freely into the digestive tract.
basically my own "problems" now (sorry dont mean to TMI!) are loose stools and a urgent need to use the restroom after eating greasy or fatty foods (like sausage, fast food, beef, etc.) because of not having a gallbladder, its like my system is just "flooded" with bile sorta speak.
but other than that I feel fine. I had my gallbladder removed because it just shut down and caused a bunch of gallstones in my bile duct. It was the worst pain ever, even worse than childbirth in my opinion
So yeah, I'm happy its gone and having it gone actually helps me be a better more healthy eater

Two friends had this op - they can eat freely now, without reflux or acid indigestion. I've always understood that the gallbladder (or obstructing stones) are removed, not the bile duct.
You meant "living without a gallbladder" - right?

ive had mine removed and i vomit bile a lot but i dont hurt nearly as bad as i did when i have it--however, there are times i still have the "gallbladder" pain..
also eating greasy foods isnt easy for me to do without getting sick and miserable!
