i think it must be in chicago, because the same diner is also in blues brothers 2000, and that was filmed in chicago as well.

Most of the good diners are up on the north side, but usually if you can recognize the surroundings you're likely to find out the name off the top of your head.

It is possible that the diner sequence was filmed in Toronto -- the movie was shot in both cities.
