Sounds like you cats in season. Can I come over for a visit?

Has been neutered yet? If not, go and get it done. Sounds like the hormones have kicked in and it's time for the mating call. Drives ya nuts doesn't it?! Going through it myself right now. Unfortunately, this singing isn't going to stop until he's got nothing to sing about. If he is neutered, then I think your best bet is to visit the vet. As odd as it may be for a young cat that age, the howling can be a sign of another issue going on such as diabetes or high blood pressure. I hope I helped. Good luck. :)

The howling you described is just a mating call he is trying to call up a girlfriend. It's harmless mine is constantly trying to call a mate and I had him fixed. He just doesn't seem to know that yet. I would strongly suggest that you have him neutered as soon as possible; he is old enough to start spraying if he hasn't already your house will get very very very smelly.

Spring fever. The days are getting longer, the girls are coming into heat. Maybe he wants to go out in the nicer weather, maybe there's a cat in heat nearby. If there is, and he's not fixed, he will want to go outside ad find her.

Boys don't go into heat, only girls, and by now it should be obvious whether or not he has testicles.

Is ur cat a siamese? It is normal for a siamese to be vocal. They mew a lot. If it's not a siamese then ask the vet

I don't think your cat is sick - probably just lonely. Does he only do it when you aren't paying him any attention? When you aren't with him, give him something that has your scent on it... hopefully that will help
