It's possible she is taking your things because hse likes your scent on them. You need to find her some toys that she can chew on. Maybe you have an old teddy bear in the closet somewhere or an old shirt she can have to sleep with. Dogs chew because they are bored. If you take away her boredom she'll quit chewing your stuff for attention. There are really great toys you can buy for dogs that have the fun/yum factor. Toys such as Kongs work really well with chewing prone animals because as the dog chews - which is fun - it's also getting bits of food - which is yum.

Good luck with your dog. Oh, spanking does nothing for a dog except make them frightened of you. Especially since, unlike people dogs have no sense of ownership, if they see something that looks good to chew, they'll chew it. Not because it's yours and it will piss you off. They don't realise what they're doing is wrong so all they see is you coming toward them yelling in an angry voice and then hitting them for no reason.

First off if it is a female dog and you are female she is trying to be the alpha dog by damaging your stuff spanking will not help just make the dog have even more animosity towards you they have all kinds of sprays and training aids you can purchase you just need to spend the time showing her who is boss without being abusive that makes a good dog bad. If it is a boy dog then he recognizes that you are not the alpha male and is picking on you the same stuff above would cure this problem also establish a pattern of how to react and be consistent once they have learned the do doesn't like it and you won't stop the dog will quit. In the end after all that is done develop a good positive relationship with your dog so that have a good protector and companion for the rest of it's life not some crappy dog you wanna take to the pound.

Stop spanking, ur dog has no idea why she`s being hit. Young dogs will chew when teething, they eventually grow out of that stage. In the meantime, get ur dog some hard plastic or rubber toys to chew on, nothing that she can chew apart and swallow, that will satisfy her need to chew. Put ur stuff out of reach, don`t leave shoes, socks and other items where she can reach them. If u catch her chewing on items other than her toys, a firm "no" will do, no hitting. When she chews on her toys, lavish praise and reward with a treat. Dogs want to please their owners.

Dogs by nature chew things. Especially if they are teething. If your dog is over 6 months old then they should have all of their adult teeth. Dogs don't know the difference of what they can chew and what they aren't suppose to chew. What you need to do is give your dog its own "toy" to chew on and teach him that that is his to do as he pleases-and he's not allowed to chew your things. Whenever you catch your dog chewing something he is not suppose to- just give him a firm "NO" and IMMEDIATELY give him his chew toy and praise the heck out of him.Spanking is not going to do the trick-he doesnt understand. Especially since he was born to chew. The key here is to always have his chew toy in your hand BEFORE you approach him when he's chewing on something he isn't suppose to. Dogs do not understand being punished for something they did even 60 seconds after the fact. The best thing is to give him several chew toys so there is alway one handy for you to pick up if he's caught chewing something he's not suppose to. Dogs are out to please their owner (believe it or not) and if you give him his chew toy and praise the heck out of him he will learn that chewing on that toy or toys makes you happy and he will continue that.

no spanked youre dog first thing you shouldnt do that cause it wont work , plus if you do that youre dog might get mad or even think youre hurting her for what she did . also if you try not leave any of youre stuffs hangin around in the house where she cant grab and chew on youre stuffs anymore. put them away somewhere else . if youre dog love to chew on things then get her something else like dogs toys or even buy her osme dogs milk bones. treats. even get her big hard bones that you can buy from the pet store .

NEVER EVER hit an animal,if you get caught doing this you will get done for animal cruelty or your dog will just turn round and bite you back.I think your dog is chewing your things because it's just got your scent on it and your dog obviously takes your husband as "dominant male" and knows not to mess with him.I would maybe speak to a dog behaviorist as the dog may have some issues.

Walk your dog for a half hour every day. Don't let him walk you . Teach him basic obedience. Sit, stay, heel, etc... This way he is getting good attention. Both of you will be getting exercise. You are learning how to communicate with your dog. He'll be learning how to understand what you want from him. Dogs want to please their people. Make sure he has his own toys. (Not your old sock as a tug toy) Try "Bitter Apple". Its a spray or cream that tastes nasty. But I swear... the walk a half hour a day will solve problems and prevent future ones. and you'll have a best friend who will fight , die, and go to hell for you.

Until you convince her not to chew on your stuff, keep your stuff somewhere out of her reach.
