Limewire isnt illegal, as its only a peer to peer site.
The act of sharing has become debatable and many will claim its punishable by law.
Most are threats though.
What they are doing is really trying to crack down on those that share copyrighted materials in large quantity.
The reality is that right now, you can download but you cant keep them on your computer for others to download from you.
I mean come on. who doesnt have Tivo and recorded a movie or sporting event for their own use?
Once you download it, dont share it is the best way.
Although it looks bad to the peer to peer network thats intended for others to share and download, you wont run the chance of getting your shared materials downloaded by a bot, and be one of the few that are made an example out of.

I don't have any evidence to support this claim but I've always thought that there was a legal loop hole that they found. Because they actually sell software I think they come off as a more legitimate file sharing program that they can defend is only intended for professional use between companies. So I don't think its illegal for them but its still illegal to download with out paying, but because of this loophole I don't think there is any way to prosecute us...good for us.... I think...

It can be illegal, it depends what you do with it, in and of itself is not.
but it is very, very dangerous, it can be used to allow your self
to get hacked severely, stay away from that stuff you could
loose your computer all toghether and everything in it,
seen it happen to too many people too many times.
I used to work fixing computers.

LimeWire is a P2P network where you can share your files. Usually, it is used to download copyrighted materials for free. LimeWire itself is not illegal, but the download copyrighted stuffs for free is illegal.
