I think that the price you guys above are quoting is the price for Thai nationals. A few things in Thailand (like it or not) have dual pricing - the idea being that Thai people live in a relatively poor (well not super rich) country and so do not have as much money as tourists from wealthier countries. Therefore they are charged a lower price. I'm not saying the system of dual pricing is good or bad (and it doesn't apply to many things, gnerally only tourist attractions, for example Muang Boran being another one) but I think the ringside price for a non-Thai national is Baht 1,600. I'm just guessing here, but I suspect that Dean is not a Thai national. Interesting discussion though, I'll double-check my info., but I'm pretty sure.

[Added 9 hours later: Given that my understanding is different to the people above, I phoned Lumpini this morning to check. The rate for non-Thai for ring-side has now gone up to Baht2,000. Standing (2nd class) is now Baht 1,500. Sat/Sun - 2 matches, the first from 5pm until 8pm & the second from 8:30 - midnight. Mon-Fri, 1 match, 6:30-10pm. ]

You can go the tourist route and that is more expensive but the seats are ring side and that may cost you about 2000 TB.. Some when the fight is over, let you meet the fighters. It is worth the extra money. The times vary, there are a few different stadium so look around.. They are Wed Thur and Fri and Sat. I don't remember if there are matches on Sun Mon or Tuesday... Bring your camera or video, they say you cant use it, but everyone does anyway... there are about 10 matches of 5 rounds of 3 minutes each, usually the 7th match is the big match and everyone leaves after that. Have fun!

Watch it on Thai TV it's cheaper. But if you go to Lumpini stadium on a Tuesday or Saturday it will cost between 500 and 1000 baht.

you have to go to -Suan Lun Night Bazzar in the Lumpini area - I think front row is 1,000 Baht. Buy the tickets yourself. Because they have Thai prices and Western prices for the tickets, and some people will tell you that they will buy the tickes for you, and well you get to the stadium and won't let you in because you have a Thai ticket, and you lost your money.

It's amazing this place.
