Read Romans 7 it will explain...we were born with sin.
sin is easier to fight if we feed our spirit with church.prayer, meditation, whatever, if we keep feeding our spirit eventually it will grow stronger than the flesh but for most of us its easier to feed the flesh.

It is rare that a human will do something they feel or know is wrong. Most of the time, they are choosing to do what may be wrong but is necessary (believed to be necessary) at the time. Some people like the "forbidden fruit" feeling, but most people just try to get through each situation as best they can. Humans are not evil by nature, take a good hard look at all those times when you did something you knew to be wrong, or those times when someone else did something you thought they knew to be wrong, I bet they all fall into two categories, weren't as wrong as they would have been in another situation, or selfish and self-destructive belief that the consequesnces wouldn't be as bad as they were.

There are a number of reasons why somebody might do such a thing:
1) The thing they believe is "wrong" is a primal urge that eventually wins out
2) They have some psychological compulsion to do so
3) They have some physical compulsion to do so (e.g., drug addiction)
4) They feel they're in a situation where they're "choosing the lesser of two evils"

Call me a heathen, but I think these make a lot more sense than blaming things on some guy in red pajamas and pitch fork.

I think what you are referring to is conscience.
Regardless of our belief, every human being is enbedded with a device called conscience.
If i remember it right somewhere in the Bible God said "I will write my laws in their hearts so that they will remember my commandments"
